Since 2019, Flock Drone Art has grown from a small creative team into one of the most successful drone show providers in Europe. From the very beginning, the company has combined a passion for storytelling with a clear business vision: to bring digital art into the sky and turn it into a sustainable, scalable enterprise.

One of Flock’s defining achievements is the International Drone Show Festival - the first event of its kind in Europe. Now in its fourth edition, the festival has become a platform where artists, clients, and industry leaders meet, exchange ideas, and showcase the latest in drone entertainment.

Alongside the festival, Flock has produced more than 200 shows across Europe. Among the highlights are the opening of the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup and indoor performances at some of Spain’s most prestigious cultural venues, including Teatro Real in Madrid and the Liceu in Barcelona.

To explore how Flock Drone Art achieved this level of prominence, Fran Arnau, Co-Founder of Flock Drone Art, shared insights into the company’s vision, its most iconic shows, and the role Drone Show Software plays in enabling creativity and precision across Europe and beyond.

Flock was born with a very clear vision: to take digital art into the sky, creating experiences that excite and surprise people. We started as a small, almost artisanal team, but with the ambition to create world-class shows.”— Fran Arnau, Co-Founder of Flock Drone Art.

A distinct creative language

For Flock, drone shows are more than just light displays.

Fran explains: “Our focus has evolved from seeing the drone as a light point to treating it as a narrative tool with endless possibilities. Each show is a story with its own script, rhythm, and atmosphere.

This approach has allowed them to develop their own visual style. As their fleet and resources have expanded, they’ve been able to create richer, more complex scenes, blending drones with pyrotechnics, live music, and large-scale projections.

Global milestones and cultural impact

Over the last five years, Flock has built an impressive track record. The International Drone Show Festival remains their flagship project, setting them apart as both creators and organizers of a one-of-a-kind cultural event. They have also brought drones to the center of global moments such as the America’s Cup, staged performances inside iconic theaters like the Liceu and Teatro Real, and contributed to the atmosphere of major festivals including Sonorama Ribera, Festival Ítaca, Brunch in Barcelona, and LUMLAB.

Fran adds: “We wanted to create a space where the sector could meet, get inspired, and collaborate. The International Drone Show Festival has positioned us as leaders and innovators, while opening doors to international projects.

The production process

Each drone show project starts with listening.

Fran explains: “It all starts with understanding what the client wants to transmit and what emotions they want to generate. From there, we develop a visual script, select the music, and design the 3D animations.

Once the creative foundation is set, the technical planning takes over: defining flight paths, programming choreography, and securing safety measures. After that, the work continues through simulations and test flights until everything is ready for a flawless performance.

Overcoming challenges

Challenges are an everyday reality in this field.

Logistically, working in complex locations. Technically, integrating large fleets of drones with live music requires absolute precision. And creatively, the constant challenge is to keep innovating without losing our artistic essence.

Scaling with Drone Show Software by SPH

As Flock has grown, so has its reliance on Drone Show Software. The platform makes it possible to manage large fleets, cut programming times, and ensure that the visuals crafted in the studio translate faithfully into the night sky.

It allows us to coordinate large fleets, optimize programming times, and guarantee that what we design in the studio is reproduced exactly in the sky.

The QuickStart feature has already transformed their logistics, letting drones be positioned on the ground without strict order, speeding up deployment and reducing risk. The team also looks forward to using Timecode Sync and Pyro Logic, which will let them synchronize drones with fireworks and live music.

Right now, we’re working with pyrotechnics, and we’re sure it will be both a challenge and an opportunity - for Flock Drone Art and for Drone Show Software.

Looking Ahead

Flock is clear about where they’re headed. Their plans include growing the fleet, expanding further internationally, and continuing to experiment with new formats, especially indoor shows that combine drones and pyrotechnics.

We imagine a future where drone shows are a regular part of urban celebrations, telling each city’s stories in the sky.

Conclusion

In only a few years, Flock Drone Art has achieved both artistic recognition and business success. By creating the International Drone Show Festival, producing more than 200 shows across Europe, and staging global events like the America’s Cup opening, the company has earned its place as a leader in the drone entertainment industry.

With Drone Show Software as their trusted partner, they continue to grow their business while pushing creative boundaries. Their vision is straightforward but ambitious: to make drone shows a lasting, sustainable, and profitable part of cultural life worldwide.
